It has been a long time since I wrote last... yet the time has flown by. "Chuck" has been out of high school for over a year. He has a good job with Datsun and flies an airplane. John is in the 10th. grade... Donna in the 9th... Daniela in the 7th.
I was released from R.S. after a year and worked in Primary a couple of years... and then back to R.S. as Home Making Leader and then as 2nd Counselor. The Ward split and we went to the new Stake Center but we are still in the 3rd. Ward... but now the boundaries have changed and next month we go to the 2nd. Ward and I will probably be released from R.S on Sunday. I have made some good and close friends here over the past 5 years.
Don is the Stake Young Men 2nd Counselor. Our biggest worry right now is "Chuck"... he refused to go on his mission. I have talked, begged and prayed but he just can't seem to give up his job and flying. I try to tell him these things will be here when he gets back - but he thinks he has it too good now. My heart is broken, I have cried and talked but I don't want him to go and not do the things the Lord wants. Don says that Charles filled out his paperwork to go on a mission (under duress)... something was missing and the paperwork came back for correction... and then Don told him to leave where it lies... if he didn't want to go. He is dating a non-member girl and I am worried about that. He gave her a ring and she goes to church with him every Sunday but I don't know how it will turn out. I do a lot of praying for him... at least he did get his Eagle and loves his work. He taught an adult education class at church the other night and I don't think anyone could have done better... I was so proud of him, so we aren't giving up.
President Reagan was in Charlotte today and John skipped school and went to see him. He really enjoyed that. John spent the summer with my parents. He is really growning and turning into such a nice young man. I am really proud of him... he needs five more merit badges to earn before he can work on an Eagle Project. John is a real gentleman... except with his sisters. We got him some new bedroom furniture this summer and fixed his room up. The girls both made honor roll last year and seem to be doing real well so far this year. They are both so pretty and grown up. Tonight was Family Home Evening, so Don is down stairs trying to fix desert.
