May 25, 1978

Well, since I wrote last, let me see what all has happened... The Ward had a yard sale for the building fund and I made 16 hundred dollars. Don is getting ready to go to Chicago for a month. Don has been made Troop Committee Chairman for the Boy Scouts in addition to his Clerk job... and his Temple Baptism assignment. He did a Court of Honor last week or the week before... it was really nice. A lot of the Scouts got awards and "Chuck" achieved his advancement to "Star." One of "Chuck's" teachers wrote a note for him so that he could get his Scholarship merit badge... and she said a lot of nice things about him (it made me real proud). He had four teeth pulled yesterday and is getting ready to go into braces. Donna & Johnny (John) both went to the zoo today... and we all went to the circus last Saturday. After the circus we went to Andrews Air Force Base and watched the Thunder Birds perform. Donna sang a song in Primary last Tuesday. Ilene Shelton called me today and said she (Donna) had to do it without the piano and that she stood up nice & tall, sang loud and every word could be understood, she said it was just beautiful. John is now a "Bear" Scout and got a bike for his birthday. For me, I finished a quilt I had been working on for Mom (a "Butterfly Quilt") with black rickrack around each butterfly... and got it mailed. We decided to have a baby shower for a neighbor, Linda Hollaway... so Donna Law and I got busy and made her a crib quilt. I have been asked to run for officer in both the Elementary and Jr. High P.T.A.'s... but as long as I am the Relief Society President I don't think I can handle P.T.A. I have worked with them in the past & I will again I'm sure. "Danni" had to have cookies yesterday for school & I was in charge of the bake sale for Scouts. We made 30 dollars... maybe we'll get these boys off to camp yet. Danni's class at school has been meeting and baking things. She got a better lesson on the Word of Wisdom than I could have ever given. They made "beer bread" and she wasn't sure whether she was to eat it or not, so she did, she came home and told me about it. We talked about it not having any alcohol content, but if they made it again she could just not taste it. The next day she had diarrhea so bad that she was convinced in her own mind that it was because she had eaten "beer bread." I called the teacher I think there are lots of other nice things the kids could make. I was nice about it, I just to let me do something special with Danni if they did it again.

Yesterday I did the ironing and put peaches and grapes in the freezer.  Today I spent most of the day sewing some curtains for D...
