DOWN WITH THE CRAB APPLE TREE

Papaw picked apricots off the trees and off the ground this morning so that he could deliver them to Elder Knapton (a fellow CSM at the ERC).  Another chore was lurking beside the house and caught him when he came up to the back door with his bounty.  Mamaw had begun loping branches off a crab apple tree and it was obvious that a chain saw should be called into service.  The saw made quick work of what Mamaw had started and Papaw pulled the branches out to the far end of the barn before returning to his apricot picking project.  Elder Knapton arrived at about this time and he helped pick some red plums (Papaw already had four large buckets of apricots picked for him).  They came in and talked for a long time before stuffing all four buckets of apricots in Elder Knapton's van.  A couple of Home Teaching appointments were scheduled for the day, the first was with Sister Chapman (she asked Papaw and Brother Bennett to fix her flat tire on a wheelbarrow... they did) and the second was with Brother Perry.

Mamaw says:  This has been a crazy sort of day... I got up early, studied, made breakfast, did the dishes, worked in the yard, cleaned the bathroom and made lunch.  Donna stopped by for a few minutes this morning and then Papaw's friend came by to get some apricots (and stayed a couple of hours).  He brought some green beans from his garden.  I cooked his green beans and some beets from our garden and made an apricot cobbler.  Claudia came over and told me that a young man she helped raise came by with his family... he is going to take her to a Tabernacle Choir Program.  I fried some potatoes (to go with our other garden goodies) for dinner and then worked a little more in the yard.  Danni called and it sounded like they had a good time at camp.  I am going to watch a little TV before going to bed.  We love all of you!

               Love,

       Mamaw & Papaw
