I sure don't write much in this. Danni and Shane moved in with us and stayed from April to November. Danni was pregnant and very sick the whole time. She vomited day and night, then when she had the baby she had a tough time - he got stuck in the birth canal& they had to use forceps to get him out. A few hours after he (Shane, Jr.) was born she had to have emergency surgery because she had internal bleeding. She didn't produce any milk to feed him and he had acid reflux. He screamed for hours at a time. He is 6 weeks old and has been on six different formulas. Danni has just walked the floor with him day and night. It seems that he screamed until he was just so tired he would fall asleep, but he never seemed to sleep peacefully. We all walked the floor with him and stayed up with him so he wouldn't choke on the vomit. After a screaming session she took him over to Donna's house and Donna nursed him. Also they took him to Mike's P.A. & he helped the baby have a bowel movement...the baby settled right down and was just as content as could be. They stayed here Thursday night and Danni went home with Donna Friday night. Danni, Shane and the baby came back here on Saturday afternoon. Danni and Shane and the bab ycame back here on Saturday afternoon. They had gone and bought goat milk to feed the baby... you never saw such happy parents & baby when they left here, but Danni called about 10 PM... the baby had thrown up the goat's milk & she wanted to know what to do. I told her to go back to Donna's. She didn't want to impose on Donna, especially in the middle of the night... but she didn't want the baby to be hungry either, so she went. When I called this morning the baby was doing fine. Donna said she was willing to do whatever it took to help. She is a special girl. Danni said, "I always thought that Donna would go to the Celestial Kingdom, now after this I know she will!" We have seen lots of miracles through all of this: 1. Danni feeling pain even though she had medication (epirudral) for the birth... and the nurse was able to find the blood clot + the surgery was done. 2. The fact that Donna lives here, since Mike is in the Army and could have been anywhere in the world. 3. Donna usually has her babies weened by the time they are one year old... but she hadn't taken Sara off the breast yet, just slowing down some. 4. Donna is not only FEEDING the baby, but is PUMPING for Danni... she thought she had given the pump to DI... but prayed really hard and then found THE PUMP. Donna and Danni are both pumping... Donna to build her milk volume back up... and Danni in an effort to produce milk for her own baby (Shane, Jr.). It sure makes you know that Our Heavenly Father hears and answers prayers. We have truly been blessed. By the way, the baby's name is "Shane Allan Beeder,Jr." most of us call him "Buddy" and some of the kids call him "Little Shane". Sara sure does like him, she just wants to pat and love on him all the time. We are praying that Donna's milk will continue to work and that as he gets a little older he will be able to tolerate more things.
Now for the other thing. I was called to be "Family, Home and Personal Enrichment Night Leader." It has been a busy and fun year with that... we have done lots of neat things. I am still working with the Primary Girls' Activity Program, we are going to take the TRAX down to Temple Square to see the lights this week. Don and I were called to be Ordinance Workers at the temple... we stayed until June. That was a great experience for us... each thing I am called to do is my Favorite! I like going on a Session with the Wheelchair Sisters... we have to help them with everything, but they do all they can by themselves. One BLIND Sister comes about every week, she is very alert... if there is a noise that she is not familiar with, she will want to know what it is. I watch them as patrons are asked to stand and of course they cannot, but their backs will straighten as much as possible. I am impressed! When I work in initiatory I am always asked where I'm from (because of my Southern accent) . One Sister told me that I sounded just like we were in the Atlanta Temple. Another told me that she appreciated me because I talked slow... and she could understand all the words. I always sound like someone they know from Texas or some other southern state. People at the temple are friendly & so helpful. Don and I were talking about that and... it would be great if we were all like that in our Wards.
There is one young lady who comes to the temple almost everyday. I asked her if she came every Wed. and she told me that she woke up every morning about 3 or 4 O'clock and she just got up and came to the temple... think of all the people she has done work for... it is amazing. Some people tease me about my accent but it is all in fun and most people say they really like it. I was not aware that I had an accent, but I guess I do... and I will just keep it since I don't know that I have it and it is part of me or who I am.
We went to Kentucky in May and took Elizabeth with us. That trip is written in a little book for Elizabeth so that she can remember her adventure.... maybe a little. We drove out on this trip. Then we flew to North Carolina with Donna, Mike and their kids in August for Chuck & Andrea's wedding... it was very pretty. Andrea had done a lot of work... she looked so pretty. Donna, Rachel and Mikey were in the wedding. The food was great. Jean, Donnie and Scottie came too, Scottie was the Best Man. No date: Don is over at the church tonight... they are still doing tithing settlement. There is a Stake Christmas program tonight but I don't suppose we will go since Don isn't back yet and it is time for the program to start. Don has been called on an Employment Specialist Mission her in town and was set apart today. He goes tomorrow to talk with them and find out what hours he will be working. Looks like he will have lots to keep him busy... Ward Clerk, two days at the Temple and now a mission + Home Teaching and all of these grandkids that like to have him carry them around. They all learn to say, "Papa" real fast and reach up their little arms to be carried. Well, we did make it to the program, just a little late... I think they were on the first song... I'm glad we went, it was really good... and I especially enjoyed the speaker. It's time to go to bed. We are going to Donna's early in the morning to help with laundry, etc. She is going to have to take time to pump milk. We thought we could help out around the house. Danni has a class up at the hospital tomorrow and an interview... they want her to be a helicopter nurse for Labor & Delivery... so I guess Donna will be keeping her baby. Shane was supposed to keep the baby, but since Donna is feeding him, I guess Danni will just have to leave him with Donna and she and Shane can go to work.
