PC'S FOR DUMMIES AT WORK

Papaw got quiet busy this afternoon at the ERC working with Job Candidates.  He also took a short break to harass the receptionist and ended up assisting her with a certificate of completion she was typing for a Spanish Career Workshop person.  She uses the International Accent Marks and Diacriticals on her home computer but didn't have the list of codes at work... this list was in the PC'S FOR DUMMIES book that Papaw purchased at DI a couple of weeks ago (his book is at home) and he quickly realized what was needed.  A quick Google Search of 'number codes for letters' yielded the answer and the receptionist was able to do the completion certificate she had been working on (now she has the ALT Key Codes pasted beside her computer).  You must use the numeric keypad instead of the numbers along the top row of the keyboard.  You must press the NumLock key, then hold down the ALT key while you type the numbers (for example:  ALT + 0200 = È).  The Google site says "The four digit combinations can be found in Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Character Map... Help is available in Start/Help (or Help and Support in Win XP) - then type character map.

Mamaw:  This was an out of the ordinary day... I got up early but didn't read & study as usual;  instead, I made breakfast and got ready to go to the dentist (for my 7:30 AM appointment) and still don't have my new tooth.  They made a mold today and the tooth should be ready in about two weeks.  I came home and called the MD  for treatment to relieve the UTI pain and then read my lesson while waiting for an appointment with him (Dr. Anderson, my regular doctor is out of the country), visited the doctor, went to Walmart and got my medication, took a short nap and was lazy for the rest of the day.  I talked to John and Elizabeth, she is a chip off the old block... reading the WSJ already!!!  When Papaw got home we had dinner and now I am being lazy again, just watching TV.  We love all of you!

                  Love,
       Mamaw & Papaw
