OCT. 31 - NOV. 8 ... CATCHING UP!

Let's see if we can recreate some of this stuff from the HI visit... look at our arrival on Oct. 31st. in time for trick or treat.  We went with someone from STAR WARS (???) and saw lots of decorations while collecting treats.

The geek tried to catch one of those green things... he was a little too slow.

On Nov. 2nd it was time for Papaw to chase some more of those green things, peel a coconut and play with Buddy's turtle while Mamaw and Danni were at the school's book fair.

Friday would have been a good day to take the camera as we toured the botanical gardens (maybe Danni has some shots posted on her blog).  Sunday was a day for church and lots of food after two eight year old boys were baptized (one being Buddy).  Now I know why all the island folks are so big... they know how to make a spread!!!

Shane took us to the top of a 13,7XX foot mountain to see the observatory after he got off work.  We were there for the sunset and then went back down to an area where lesser telescopes were set up for visitors to enjoy.  Mamaw had her picture taken beside a sign warning drivers to beware the invisible cows.

Shane took us to a valley on Nov. 6th.  The road off the hill was rugged, reminded me of the 1940's and 1950's with travel in the back woods of Kentucky.  One horse looked like he wanted an apple but another family of horses seemed content and out of the way.  Here are some shots from this tropical paradise:

Nov. 7th was Danni's birthday...  Papaw had fun washing the mud off her tires (cheap birthday present).  We watched Buddy in his tennis lessons and were looking forward to getting home.   Danni / Shane / Buddy... thanks for all your work caring for us on our stay with you!!!  When you get to Utah we owe you a tour of OUR PLACE.

Here is what remained of our mailbox when we got home:

Mamaw says:  We got home about noon today after a great week with Buddy, Shane and Danni.  When we got home Papaw found his mailbox smashed flat.  I  found lots of dirty clothes in our suitcase.  We had lunch, I took a nap and then reviewed the mail.  We came back home to 71 degrees but the wind is blowing and we are supposed to get snow tomorrow... 1 - 3 inches in the valley.  We had a great trip but it is good to get home and back in our own routine (THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME!!!).   We love all of you!!!

               Love,
      Mamaw & Papaw
