Mar. 11, 2003

I sure do go a long time between writings.  I was called to be the Young Women's President and served in that calling for 3 years.  I sure did enjoy  the young women and we do have some good girls in the Ward.  So many things have happened in the last few years....  Mike and Donna moved to Georgia for his internship in surgery and Donna has had another baby (Kristen).  They now live in the Washington, D.C. area.  Mike has finished his Residency in Occupational Health and received orders to come back to Utah as one of the doctors at Dugway Army Base.  I will  be so glad to get them back out here. They had a huge snow... it melted and came into their basement and now they have mold and mildew all over their place and ... Donna and the kids have been really sick because of it (Donna is also expecting another baby).  When they move closer I can at least help out with the kids when she is sick.  They are supposed to be back in Utah by July 17th.

I am also worried about war (because of the attack on the World Trade Center & Pentagon)... it seems like we are headed in that direction.  Danni has been working as a Traveling Nurse for the last year and a half or so... she spent a 3 month period in Washington, D.C. and lived with Donna... that was good for both of them.  Her next three month tour was spent in St. Thomas.  We flew out to Donna's to drive Danni's Jeep back to here to Utah for her... took a detour and visited Charles and then, a deer hopped in the road and totaled Danni's car as were driving on toward Kentucky to see my Mom.  Danni wasn't upset, she is such a special young woman and so good hearted... if anything, she gives away too much.

After St. Thomas she went to San Diego and in September she married Shane Beeder (they were married in Las Vegas).  Shane is from here in Utah, so they moved back here and Danni got a nursing job in Labor and Delivery at the University of Utah.  Shane worked in computers and lost his job about two months after they were married, so they decided to go back to St. Thomas for another three months and use it for their honeymoon.  Danni called the other day and was really upset because one of her patient's little baby was born dead.  That was the first patient she had ever lost and it was really hard on her.  She is so tender hearted...but she doesn't always show it on the surface (she likes to appear Macho, but is really tender).  I think she has married a good man... he seems to care and support Danni.  I will be so glad to get them back to Utah next month (I guess I worry too much).  I'm afraid war will start and they might have a hard time getting home, but I hope not.  All we can do is pray and we do a lot of that.  They want to buy a house when the get back to Utah.  Shane and Danni are expecting a lot of company for the time they have left in the islands.

Chuck has joined the Navy Reserves... he wants to learn how to repair planes.  I hope he doesn't have to go to war.  He is planning to get married again next year.  I really like Andrea... I think she is good for him.  Justin is really growing up.  He hasn't been able to come out and visit since "9 - 11" (the plane attack).  That was a really bad day for me... I was not able to reach Donna for a little while and that was scary, but again, prayers were answered.  "Chuck was laid off from his job with U.S Airways and has been working in a garage.  He and Andrea have bought a house... it is really nice and they have it fixed so cute..

I don't guess I have mentioned that John has been married for a few years and has the cutest little girl you ever saw.  Not only is she cute but smart also....she has just turned two. John works in Salt Lake but he lives in Provo.

Don served as a Church Service Missionary at the Church Audit Department (sixteenth floor of the Church Office Building - downtown SLC).  He is also in the Sunday School Presidency and is a Family History Consultant.

As for me,  I now teach the 4th. Sunday in Relief Society from "Lesson For Out Times".  Today Don and I went for a walk and then had breakfast.  Don is painting our family room and I worked in the yard pulling up ivy that has taken over.  It was 62 degrees today and been really spring like.  We are in a drought condition... and this is the 5th. year that we haven't gotten all the snow we need.

We called Donna this morning to see how they are doing.  She said workers were coming to put down some carpet.  She has been trying to clean up from all the flooding... She is going to take Ashley to the doctor.

I have had a bladder infection for about five months and I think it is finally over.  I have been on antibiotics and my doctor sent me to a urologist... but I was better by the day of my appointment with him.  I know that God hears and answers our prayers.  It seems that we have had so many stresses lately... and things always seem to turn out ok!  With Donna and the kids so sick we thought we were going to have to go out there, and Danni so far away.

We pray and the Lord hears us... and answers our prayers.  We are so grateful for our many blessings.  We had Stake Conference this past weekend.  Brother Brough was one of the speakers... he talked about prayer and said that prayer should be less words and more action.  If we pray for the Bishop... then do your Home Teaching and Visiting Teaching!  If we pray for the needy - then Pay your Fast Offering!  He also said that we, as Church members don't stone our Prophet, we just ignore him!  We are told to be prepared, but we aren't.  We are told to get out of debt, but we don't listen... so we have decided to get a few things that we don't have for our food storage & do what we are supposed to do.  We have been so blessed.
